The main contribution of SEGES in research and innovation projects is dissemination of the project results to the farmers as well as the subsequent implementation on the farms. These fields have been our long term area of specialisation

AgriSPIN, Space for innovations in Agriculture 2015-2017

Far from all innovation processes succeed. So what makes an innovation process move forward? And what stops it? The EU-project “AgriSpin – Space for Innovations in Agriculture” seeks to find the answers to those questions and many more by identifying best practices for innovation and support systems in European agriculture.

 EuroDairy  

EuroDairy - A pan-European network for dairy farming

EuroDairy is a network to increase the economic, social and environmental sustainability of dairy farming in Europe. EuroDairy will foster the development and dissemination of practice-based innovations in dairy farming, targeting key sustainability issues following the abolition of milk quotas: socio economic resilience, resource efficiency, animal care, and the integration of milk production with biodiversity objectives.

The OK-Net Arable 2015-2017

The complexity of organic farming requires farmers to have a very high level of knowledge and skills. But exchange on organic farming techniques remains limited. The OK-Net Arable project aims to facilitate co-creation of knowledge by farmers, farm advisers and scientists to increase productivity and quality in organic arable cropping all over Europe.

 Prohealth  

PROHEALTH

Sustainable pig and poultry production systems. FP7-KBBE, 2013-18

PROHEALTH aims at improving competitiveness and sustainability of modern pig and poultry farming in Europe.

Production diseases compromise health and welfare of pigs and poultry, generating inefficiencies which reduce profitability and product quality, and increase environmental footprint and antibiotic use.

The PROHEALTH project will develop an understanding of the multi-factorial dimension of animal pathologies linked to the intensification of production and use this to develop, evaluate and disseminate effective control strategies to reduce impact. The project has 22 partners from around Europe.

Autograssmilk is a joint research project for the benefit of SME Associations, which objective is to develop and implement improved sustainable farming systems that integrate the grazing of dairy cows with automatic milking (AM) which are appropriate to the different approaches to dairy farming to be found in the different regions in Europe.

AgroIT advanced farm management

ICT Policy Support Programme (ICT PSP) 2014-2016

Increasing the efficiency of farming through open standards based AGRO IT platform.

AgroIT will implement an open platform based on open standards. Project will deliver applications and services to various stakeholders: farmers, local communities, state institutions, consulting institutions in farming (government founded and private) and EU institutions.

Main target users are farmers and agricultural organisations.

Reducing mineral fertilisers and chemical use in agriculture by recycling treated organic waste as compost and biochar products.

Biochar may be one of the solutions to reduce emissions of harmful greenhouse gases from agricultural land and to improving soil fertility.

SEGES is project partner and responsible for dissemination / implementation and end user survey.

GNSS User forum on Navigation based Innovation for Farmers.

UNIFARM sets up a user forum to present and defend the needs of farmers in the development of GNSS applications and services. It will also serve as a new dissemination channel to increase awareness. UNIFARM brings together precision agriculture projects and farmer representatives from all over Europe. SEGES is project partner.

GeoWebAgri

Geospatial ICT infrastructure for agricultural machines and FMIS in planning and operation of precision farming.

The overall aim of the GeoWebAgri project is to analyse and develop an ICT infrastructure for handling geospatial data and knowledge both in agricultural machines and farm management information systems (FMIS) and promote the introduction of this technology in European software and automation products for agriculture. SEGES is project partner.

STRAT-Training project

The frequent changes in today’s context (consumer’s needs, competitors, price of raw materials, legal constraints, CAP changes, sustainable development) leave managers of Very Small Enterprises (VSEs), especially those from the rural and agricultural sector, facing uncertainty and Strategy problems. Thus, the sustainability of the VSEs and their region is challenged.

The STRAT-Training project, granted by the LEONARDO DA VINCI programme of the European Union, aims to develop a Strategy to help VSEs respond to this context.

The farmer as water manager under changing climatic conditions.

The project focused on enabling farmers to act successfully as water managers in changing climatic conditions. The project presented water risk management practices that reduce the consequences of flooding, droughts, water shortage and nutrient transport.

WaterCap

A cluster project on Water management in a changing Climate, Adaptation to new conditions, and Promotion of new strategies.

The WaterCAP cluster connects six INTERREG IVB funded projects (CPA, Aquarius, SAWA, C2C-islands and CLIWAT) working with issues relating to water.

It will focus on recommendations relevant to policy-makers on:

1) Water quantity/quality issues, 2) Climate change impact assessment on different types of water bodies and 3) Adaptation strategies.

Baltic Deal gathered farmers and farmers' advisory organisations around the Baltic Sea in a unique effort to raise the competence concerning agri-environmental practises and measures. The aim was to support farmers to reduce nutrient losses from farms, with maintained production and competiveness.
